One of the beautiful getaway destinations is Cenote Calavera in Tulum. The Calavera Cenote looks like a skull with the main hole and two smaller ones that look like the eyes. The clear turquoise water makes it a better place for diving as the visibility is quite high. Calavera is also called “The Temple of Doom Cenote” but it is the safest place to visit and enjoy a nice swim. The Cenote will not be much crowded because of its hidden structure, so you will get enjoy it to yourself or with fewer people.

How to get there?

The Calavera Cenote is located 3 kilometers away from Tulum town center, on the highway leading to Coba.

Rent a Bike/ Car:

Renting a bike is probably the best way to get around and travel to the area yourself. It will take about 20 minutes to reach there from the Tulum town center. You can also visit other Cenotes in Tulum this way.
Renting a car is the easiest way to reach Cenote Calavera if you know your way around the area. If not, you can always rent a car with a private driver for a day.
You can also take a Taxi from downtown Tulum which will cost you bout MX$100. The cheapest way to Cenote Calavera is by taking a Colectivo, which goes from Tulum Town to Cuba. Make sure to tell the driver to stop when you reach the destination, Calavera Cenote.

When to Visit?

The Summer season is the best to visit this cenote. It is opened for 7 days a week from 9 AM to 5 PM. Winter season is not suggested to visit the cenote because of the safety.

What to do in Calavera Cenote?

Diving is one of the best things you can do in the cenote. If you plan on diving, it is recommended to get the required things for diving by yourself, or else you can also contact the local diving center to arrange the diving experience.
Swimming in the cenote gives you a different experience. You can have such a nice swim while enjoying the hot sun.
The cenote gives you many impressive views to take pictures and capture moments of enjoyment.
